The story starts with a narrow deliverable
PhotoAI is easier to understand as a photo-delivery product than as a generic AI showcase. The customer pays for a usable image for a personal or marketing purpose, not for an impressive model name.
That framing changes what needs to be tested. A professional headshot, product image, and cover image each have different acceptance rules. Pick one outcome, define what counts as usable, and delay the universal image assistant.
The $105K and $80K figures stay inside their evidence boundary
Pieter Levels published the figures on his personal site in March 2026: about $105,000 in monthly revenue and about $80,000 in monthly profit. This is a first-party founder statement, but it is not an independent audit or a forecast for another builder.
The result also sits on top of conditions that a headline can hide: long experience shipping independent products, an existing public audience, ongoing iteration, and the ability to handle delivery and distribution. Copying a prompt does not copy those advantages.
Turn an image idea into a paid test
Choose one audience you can reach, such as job seekers, wedding photographers, independent sellers, or small businesses that need product images. Make three images in one consistent style and ask one stranger whether the result solves a real problem and is worth paying for.
A compliment is not payment evidence. If the person will not provide a real input, request another batch, or make a small commitment, change the audience, deliverable, or price before adding more features.
Image cost includes more than the API request
Generation cost includes failed attempts, retries, model switching, human selection, storage, and refunds. Use the same redacted sample across a small shortlist and record usable-output rate, failure type, retry count, usage, and selection time.
Within the models currently and lawfully offered at https://APIToken.Company, an isolated project key and a small stopping budget can make the experiment observable. A model visible in a marketplace is not automatically fit for the job, and a cheap call is not necessarily a cheap deliverable.
Keep a work sample instead of a success screenshot
Keep the three images, the acceptance rule, the stranger feedback, the model and version, the usage record, the manual selection time, and the decision to continue or stop. That evidence is more useful than a screenshot of a polished demo.
PhotoAI and Pieter Levels have no demonstrated usage or partnership relationship with APIToken. APIToken is only a bounded practice surface for checking current models, status, usage, and budget while testing a small real workflow.
Source and evidence boundary
The primary source is Pieter Levels' personal website, “Photoai.com is a 40,870 line index.php making 105,000/mo revenue and 80,000/mo profit.” The revenue and profit figures are founder-reported and unaudited; they are not personal-income guarantees or proof of typical margins.
Current models, prices, groups, and availability follow the live APIToken pages and a real request, not this case study. The smallest next step is one audience, three images, one payment question, an isolated key, and a written stopping rule.
